How To Make Pickled Red Onions

So you want to make your own pickled red onions? Easy peasy. I started making my own a few months ago, and I am OBSESSED, if you can’t tell from all my Instagram posts. I mean it, it’s seriously so easy. Here is the recipe I use:

Ingredients

  • 1 medium/large red onion

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1 cup white vinegar

  • 2 teaspoons pickling salt (or kosher salt works)

1. Thinly slice your onions and place them in a medium/large heat safe bowl.

2. Bring sugar, vinegar, and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir until everything is dissolved. Pour over onions in the bowl. Mix to get all the onions wet with the mixture.

3. Let onion bowl cool to room temperature, and then transfer to a jar or place directly into the fridge, making sure to cover either the jar or the bowl. Chill overnight. Best after 1-2 days, but you can really enjoy them whenever!

Here are some of my favorite ways I use pickled red onions!
