Mint Matcha Protein Milkshake

Thank you to New Chapter for sponsoring this post

As most of you guys know, I’m a huge matcha fan, and I’m always looking for new ways to spice up my favorite drink. I’ve been particularly interested in turning my morning matcha into more of a complete meal, but it’s hard to find a protein powder to use that is not only plant-based but doesn’t ruin the taste of my drink that I love so dearly.

I know I am not alone in this struggle, as I am always having discussions with people on how they can find the perfect plant-based protein powder. Many protein powders have whey (not vegan), and the rest tend to be pea protein based or soy based (pea protein isn’t always the tastiest and many people have sensitivities to soy or don’t want to have it regularly. Some people get bloated from them too). This makes it difficult for those looking for a plant-based protein to find a good option.

But New Chapter is here to save the day! They recently came out with Complete Organic Plant Protein+ Powder, which is 100% vegan and made with whole foods (yay!). Their protein powder is made with a blend of mung bean and brown rice plus whole-food seeds including chia, flax and pumpkin Seeds for a complete amino acid profile. It also includes clinically studied digestive enzymes for proper protein break down which means better absorption, which means better digestion and less discomfort and bloat.

I used their vanilla flavor to make the ultimate morning treat: a Mint Matcha Protein Milkshake that’s completely vegan and loaded in protein (20 grams alone from the protein powder). I used coconut milk to give a thick, milkshake-like consistency, but if you want to make this more of a daily drink, you can always use almond milk or any other non-dairy milk.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 1/2 cup coconut milk

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 2 teaspoons ceremonial grade matcha

  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves

  • 1 scoop New Chapter Complete Organic Plant Protein+ Vanilla

  • 1 medjool date

  • 8 ice cubes

Optional: Extra coconut cream & cacao nibs for garnish

1. Add ingredients to a high speed blender, and blend on for 1 minute until smooth. Serve immediately.

2. If you want to top off your milkshake with coconut “whipped cream,” skim just the coconut milk off the top and blend or use a frother until coconut cream is whipped and pillowy. Top off with cacao nibs if desired
